The Bay Checkerspot Butterfly (Euphydryas editha bayensis) is an endangered butterfly only endemic to the Bay region of California. It's main host is the Dwarf Plantain (Plantago erecta) which has been dwindling in its native range. The butterfly is also endangered due to habitat loss, drought, and wildfire.
